By merging art, history, and personal accounts, Wish You Were Here is artist Mitchel Coffman’s eleven year journey exploring the Global War on Terror through a massive painting installation.
Wish You Were Here is a series of narrative works centered on SOF military members and first responders. By chronicling the individual experiences of the Global War on Terror, the work serves as both a historical record and a deeply personal exploration of service, resilience, and the transition home.
Mitchel spoke to Christopher Paul Meyer, the host of Havok Journal’s podcast, Profiles in Havok, about his artistic journey and what led him to create this body of work.
