2015 Paintings

Coffman’s work pays homage to the journeys and sacrifices of individuals who are committed to creating lasting legacies within their respected fields of work. His paintings depict the processes and efforts put forth by these individuals in their day-to-day pursuits. His subjects have ranged from a Belizean fashion designer collaborating on a dress for the First Lady of his home country, to a Trinidadian barber who moved to Brooklyn so that he could open his own barbershop and carry on the family tradition passed on to him by his grandmother. The importance of the work is to tell the stories of each fascinating individual whose life is fully committed to their craft
